Zomereiken solar park
Sunvest and Agem are working together on the plans for the De Zomereiken solar park near Groenlo in the municipality of Oost Gelre. The project location is large enough to realise a solar park of around 13 MWp. Such a solar park will provide enough power for approximately 4,000 homes, or in other words for all the households in Groenlo!
The plot has a low agricultural value, making it highly suitable for the realisation of a solar park.
On 19 October 2020, the request for an environmental permit for the realisation and operation of the De zomereiken solar park was submitted. With this, the final design, the plan for landscape integration and the studies carried out were transferred to the municipality of Oost-Gelre.
The city council will first take a decision on the draft environmental permit and the proposal to the municipal council to issue a ‘declaration of no objection’. Alderman Frank expects to present this declaration to the council in February 2021. Meanwhile, an application for a monument permit has been submitted for the historical restoration of the Grolse Linie and the construction of a ‘redoubt’ as part of the landscape integration of the solar park. A Water Act permit has been requested for the construction and management of a nature-friendly bank along the existing watercourse.
Sunvest and Agem intend to apply for an SDE subsidy in 2021. The planning for the construction is that it can be completed in 2022.

We build nature inclusive solar parks
Information about this project
Landowner
- The landowners want to play a part in the energy transition and are therefore making their land available for a Nature Inclusive Solar Park.
- The location is very suitable for the realisation of a Natural Solar Park because the plot has limited agricultural value. In addition, the Grolse Linie will be made visible and experienceable. This part of the project area will be made accessible to visitors.
Landscape and nature
- In the solar park, part of the Grolse Linie will be reconstructed. The ramparts will be raised to their original height. The soil for this will be obtained by light excavation of the top layer of the entire field. This part of the project area will be made accessible to visitors.
- Two pedunculate oaks will be retained near the redoubt, surrounded by a meadow, partly within the fence of the solar park and partly - as a sunbathing lawn - outside.
- The shrubberies around the park will consist of local shrubs with taller types of wood in a number of places. The varied thicket zone around the solar park will be managed at a height of about 1.50 metres with some higher bushes,
- On the west side of the park there will be facilities for bicycle parking and an information table with information on history, landscape, ecology and sustainability. From here, visitors can walk to the monument.

Local community
- In the development of the solar de Zomereiken, Sunvest is working together with the local energy cooperative Agem. Sunvest and Agem are both 50% owners of the future solar park. In this way local residents can benefit and think along with the project and ownership and control remain in the project area.
- Local entrepreneurs are given opportunities to construct the park and manage the greenery. This project offers Groenlo and the surrounding area the opportunity to work together to make their own environment more sustainable. Communication with local residents
Sunvest believes that local residents and the environment always have an important say in the development of a natural solar park. In our experience this leads to a better solar park where the local area actually benefits and can participate in the energy transition.
Sunvest held several meetings with people living in the immediate vicinity of the future solar park to collect their feedback on how best to fit the solar park into the environment. Much of the feedback from the neighbourhood has been incorporated into the plans submitted to the municipality. For example, the solar panels have been lowered from 2.0 metres to 1.50 metres and the shrubbery will be managed to a height of 1.50 metres so that local residents retain a view of the landscape.
In addition, Sunvest organised several information evenings for local residents and interested parties from the area.
